-Had an appointed and still waited almost 2 hours. The braided came, ate and had a bad attitude. when she asked what I was getting and I told her she said that’s not the price. I showed the website and the email of how much it should be and apparently everybody found that funny cause they laughed at me for a few hours.. Miss attitude left and someone else started working on my hair and told me every time I come I complain, but I never complained before (one time I booked crochets and she asked did I want them individual and I asked how much more. I was fine with price) but when she seen I didn’t have to hair she just had to do it the Original way.. when have I EVER complained. She laughed about how short my hair was on one side and kept bringing up how I thought the prices were the same on the website.
Lastly, if you try to tell them about themselves they start talking bad about Americans. Y’all don’t have to worry about me, cause this AMERICAN will never be back
I am writing this review at the request of one of the stylists at Elite Hair Braiding Studio. I want to preface this by mentioning that I attempted to contact the salon's owner prior to writing this review, but received no response. Last week, I reached out to several salons in Houston to get my hair braided. As a colorectal cancer survivor, I have had success with other stylists with braiding my hair in the last year. However, my recent visit to Elite Hair Braiding Studio was highly disappointing.
I made an appointment at the salon located near my home on Westheimer, and it was confirmed for last Friday. When I arrived at the designated time, there was no one present. I immediately called the provided contact number and spoke to a gentleman who confirmed my appointment but couldn't explain the absence of staff. He promised to get back to me and eventually called back, suggesting that I visit another salon five miles away near the Royal Oaks area, which was inconveniently distant from the Galleria.
Arriving at the alternate location, I brought my own hair as requested and explained that I wanted two cornrows with hair color matching the cancer ribbon to show support. The stylist seemed unsure, claiming my hair was not long enough for just two braids, despite my recent successful experience with such a style lasting for weeks. She insisted on doing multiple braids instead, which naturally incurred additional costs beyond the originally agreed-upon price. I reluctantly agreed which was a mistake.
As she began,😐on my hair, the stylist engaged in a heated argument with another stylist, with one criticizing her work and insisting on a redo. This escalated into a verbal fight, which was eventually diffused by a third stylist who was working on a child. The entire incident left me feeling embarrassed and shaken. The stylist seemed uncertain about the style and hurriedly attempted to finish.
Leaving the salon, I discovered that I had received six braids of varying shapes and sizes, with the first two braids already coming undone by Tuesday. In an attempt to address the issue, I reached out to the salon on Tuesday but received no response. It is now Thursday, and I have decided to cut my losses. While everyone has a bad day, this experience, as a cancer survivor advocate and someone seeking hair services, lacked sensitivity and professionalism.
If someone were to ask me about Elite Hair Braiding Studio, I would regrettably have to advise against visiting. Witnessing the lack of consideration for my concerns and observing the altercation over the quality of my hair was truly disheartening. This review serves as a factual account of what transpired during my visit. I have no intention of harming their business; I simply wanted to share my experience. I would certainly advise caution to anyone dealing with any sort of chronic illness or trauma surrounding their hair.
The reason for the 2 stars is I booked my appointment online in February via their website for March 4th. Got both an email and a text message confirming my appointment. In the email it said I could send pics of what I specifically wanted so someone could give me a quote. After texting back and forth a lady just called to talk to me ..and she told me $120..(a good price after all..BOTH sides of my head are shaved) she said she would make a note of the price she quoted me. As we get closer to the month of March I decided I needed to reschedule my appointment..I call and speak to someone easy no problem rescheduling to 10:00am, Saturday March 23rd. Got both another email and text confirming my new rescheduled appointment. I get there ..they are located in a small strip with a terribly small busy packed parking lot..the parking was ridiculous. The companies around had their own reserved spots (2-3) and made sure if you parked there you were coming into their place of business if not they waved you down and told you to move. A big black Cadillac Escalade was taking up the only 2 parking spaces for Elite Braids. 🙄 I tried to squeeze close to the Escalade but the dry cleaning lady said no and asked me to move. Found an area that was not for parking but another vehicle made a parking space out of it and there was enough space for me to make a space next to them.
Its 9:57 am by the time I get parked somewhere, walk in and every braider (7‐8 ladies braiding) in there has a client in their chair...no one is at the front desk, no one asks if I have an appointment they just say "hi" (in a tired exhausted tone of voice and ask what I wanted (Senegalese Twist) then told me to sit down where 3 other ladies are waiting. 🙄 No one is ready for me at 10am. I waited 25-30min before I got in a chair with an unhappy braider.
They are inconsistent with communication and prices.... the lady asked me how long i wanted them i said bra strap length the other braider across the way says $160. 🙄 ok so now I'm thinking its because of the length I said ..ok fine.
2 1/2 hours later I have a different braider the 1st lady took a break on my head and hopped over to do someone else's (they tag team) but the 1st person who started braiding my hair left for the day and the front desk person has finally arrived (2:24pm) asks me to sign in on this clipboard asks the now new braider braiding the back portion of my head how much ...$180🙄🤯😳👀 SERIOUSLY.....NO. THEY KEPT UPPING THE PRICE.
I'm just sticking to who and what I know. I will return to my original braider. I didn't go to her this time because she doesn't like to do Senegalese Twist....and from what I could see these ladies aren't a fan of doing them either.
